A murder in an alleyway leads an attorney to try and discover the cause of
his sister's death. His investigations lead him to a startling discovery of a
secret society of vampires who are on a remarkable and unusual mission...to
find a way to live in peace with humans!
His Sister - The girl screamed and ran down the dark alleyway. Her expensive high heels slapped loudly on the pavement. The man smiled. He loved it when his prey ran. The chase was so much better this way. It would be easy to catch her and kill her. He hoped she was a feisty one. He hated the ones that just fainted and let him do his bidding.
The Elders - His doorbell rang, disturbing his sleep. Opening his eyes he crawled out of bed. His room was dark, it was still night. Curious, he glanced at his night clock and saw that it was four in the morning.
The Surprise - Sarah's funeral took place on a cloudless night. John stood over her graves refusing to say goodbye to her.
Sarah's story - Her long luscious hair flowed down her back. It was odd how she could now feel every little thing. She had felt it before, but now it seemed more real. Her loosely curled hair had become tight spirals and her red hair had become a brighter orange colour.
The Council - Moaning, John opened his eyes. He had drunk too much again. His head was throbbing. Glancing around the living room, he was thankful that the drapes were closed. He didn't think he could handle the bright sunlight.
Maker - Moaning, John opened his eyes. He had drunk too much again. His head was throbbing. Glancing around the living room, he was thankful that the drapes were closed. He didn't think he could handle the bright sunlight.
Hayer - Hayer's lean frame stood to his full height. Garath was not backing down from him. The elder was tempted to kill the fool, but he had seen the vision, he knew what their fate was. Hayer bared his teeth at the younger vampire. I won't let you take her Garath. If it's a fight you want - I'll comply.
The Encounter - Entering Sarina's chambers, Hayer was greeted with the scent of Jasmine. The elder breathed the fragrance deeply. It had been a long time since he had smelt Jasmine. The odor calmed him.
Revenge - The vampire slowly emerged from the shadows he had hidden in. The vampire was handsome with shoulder length blond hair and boyish features. His body was strong and well built. The vampire was dressed in blue jeans and a black dress shirt. He smelt of cider.
Anger - Walking into the circular council room was overwhelming for Sarah. Everywhere she looked was a highly detail-oriented throne. Perched on each throne was an elder. Sarah was not sure who each person was, nor was anyone going to introduce him or herself.
The Suspect - Detective Don Higgins cursed and crumpled up the sheet of paper he held in his hand. It was a letter from the mayor of Toronto. The letter stated that unless his task force came up with a suspect by tomorrow they would be disbanded. That meant he and all the other people on the task force would have to return to regular duty.
The First Death - The soft sun shone on his face and warmed his body. He had had a hell of a day. What John had just experienced was enough to send shivers running through him. He had killed his first vampire.
Joining Forces - Detective Higgins squinted down at John. The lawyer was stubborn and was not talking at all. In the past four hours that they had grilled John, Don and Alex had gotten nowhere.
United - Sarah sat on her bed. Her legs where clenched up tight to her chest with her arms encircling them. The girl felt sad, alone and afraid. She was not alive anymore. The reality of that was more than she could bear.
The Champion - Blood trickled down his lips. Delicately he wiped the sweetness from them with his tongue. He had been right; her taste had been overwhelming.
Leaving The Nest - A few months had past since Sarah last saw her brother John. She was growing stronger everyday. The elders now let her leave the hideout to go exploring at night. She had run into Garath a few times on her night journeys, but each time he had kept a safe distance from her. It was as if he was only watching her, almost like he knew that she was more powerful.
The First Test - Breathing deep, Sarah felt exhilarated. This was the first time in months that she felt like an adult. Leaving the elders made her feel grown up and proud to be on her own. Picking up the pace, she trotted down the dark alley. Being a vampire did have its advantages; she would never fear an alley again.
The Queen - The end was drawing close. Hayer could feel his old bones pulsing with life and excitement. Sarnia had been sent back to Egypt. The mute elder had defied him, and he had had enough of her disobedience. She would still control her sect in Egypt, but no more would she be welcome in Canada.
Family Reunion - A knock on John's apartment startled him and his two companions. The two police officers immediately pulled out their guns and pointed them at the door. John stood in front of the door.
It's over - Sitting on a soft lawn chair, John reflected on last week's events. It was still very surreal in his mind, but looking at the large gash on his left arm reminded him that it indeed had happened.
