The Camcorder Never Lies
by Sally Gray

Jade sat there willing the phone to ring. He always phoned at eleven, and it was nearly half past. She jumped, as the clock struck the half hour—was it worth all this agony?

Suddenly that glorious noise sounded. It only rang twice, and she picked it up,

"Hello...Paul?" she asked

"Hiya darling, how you doing?" he said

"Missed me?"

"What do you think?" she asked in a husky voice.

The rest of the conversation was cut short as Jade heard the slam of the front door and the familiar tones of her husband Des.

"Er...sorry we don't need any double glazing," she said and put the phone back down.

Des kissed the top of her head and said, "Not more stupid calls, I think I'm going to have a word with the telephone company...we seem to be getting them all the time."

Jade crossed her fingers behind her back and said that she would get on to them tomorrow.

"I treated myself to something today" said Des and produced a brand new state of the art camcorder.

Jade nodded in approval and said that it would be lovely to record the girls at their school sports day. After all, they were seven and ten now and time passed so quickly.

She had been married to Des for eleven years, and they had been happy. She still loved him and he her, but Paul was something else. She had met him at her local night school where they were both learning French conversation. He was everything that Des wasn't. He was casual, witty and extremely sexy.

They had gone for a drink straight from classes each week for a month. That quickly progressed to hotel rooms in the middle of the day. Jade would leave in time to get the girls Donna and Ferne from school.

She still loved Des, but she lusted after Paul; he was like a drug, and Jade needed her fix.

She was, in fact, off to meet Paul the next day, and quite frankly she couldn't wait.

Jade saw Des off to work, took the girls to school, and went home for a soak in the bath.

She took extra special care with herself prior to meeting Paul, and the excitement of the affair made her stomach tingle.

Within the hour she was in the foyer of the little hotel. It was situated about five miles away from her home in a small village. Ten minutes late, as usual, Paul eventually arrived. He greeted her with his slow lazy smile and put his hand on her shoulder.

They barely waited until they were safely in the room, and the next hour was a frenzy of activity that would have stunned Des!

"I can't be late today," Jade said cuddling up to Paul, "It's the girls' sports day, and I have got to go home to pick up the camcorder. I promised Des that I would film it for him."

They left the room separately, which was a little stupid, as all the staff knew what they were up to.

As Jade drove home, she realized that she hadn't asked Paul when she would see him again...he'd phone...of that she was sure.

She quickly went home, picked up the camcorder, and went off to school, her mood free and easy as she daydreamed about her recent lovemaking.

The sports day was a success, and the girls both got placed in the races. Jade got it all on film, and things were great.

Instead of the two girls coming home with her, they were both invited to friends for tea, and so Jade went home alone.

On the way home her mobile rang...it was Paul.

"I want more," he said, "When are you free?"

Jade said that Des wouldn't be in until six and the girls were with friends...would he like to come around now?

She rushed indoors and put the camcorder on the wall unit in the lounge.

Within minutes the front door bell sounded...it was him.

Jade led him over to the sofa and immediately passion took over.

Now, if either of them had taken a closer look at the camcorder, they would have noticed that a little green light was illuminated.

In actual fact, the very clever machine was filming their 'afternoon activity session'.

Paul left after an hour and Jade rushed upstairs, showered and changed her clothes.

She plumped the cushions up on the sofa and answered the phone...it was Des.

He said that he had asked his parents to dinner, and they were all anxious to see the sports day video.

What a harmonious sight greeted Des when he arrived home from the office...parents in tow.

A casserole was bubbling slowly in the oven, a bottle of Chablis was cooling in the fridge and his two daughters were watching the television.

Domestic bliss!

They all enjoyed a tremendous dinner and sat down to see Jade's filming.

She had actually done it very well and it pleased Des to see his two daughters do so well.

They all laughed when it became obvious that Jade had forgotten to switch off the camcorder, and Des jumped up to fast forward it.

Jade suddenly became aware of herself on film. She was watching out of the front window.

She leaped up to switch it off but Des stopped her.

"Leave it," he smiled, "It's quite funny"

Indeed it would have been quite funny if it had stopped there, but to see your wife cavorting with a younger man on your sofa in your house is not at all amusing.

They all stared open mouthed as the x-rated movie played...and it is really true...The camcorder NEVER lies!
