the fear sets on quickly the moment you start.
You worry and wonder if you've said the wrong thing
and if you're just wishing for an impossible dream.
You read about stories of true romance
and secretly hope that this is your chance
to make your own story from beginning to end
with your soulmate, your lover, partner and friend.
You try to see clearly but with feelings it's hard
your past's a reminder of where you are scarred
with wounds ever deep that you keep tucked away
promising yourself you will free them someday.
You think off and on you can settle for less
what seemed like forever can turn out a mess.
Lives you've touched and loves you've lost
you now question more closely just what is the cost
of fairy tale feelings and dreams coming true
you tire of hoping it could happen to you.
Why hope never dies is really a clue
that angels are with us guiding us through.
For left to ourselves I'm sure we'd find
