I look into your eyes
And I feel fear,
Baby boy.

That I cannot see into beyond
And know what will happen
And know which days to keep you safely at home.

I feel fear,

That I cannot hold you right next to me every day,
And shield you from any pain
That may threaten you.

I feel fear,
Baby boy,
That I cannot blaze guns
At any oncoming danger that you may face.

I feel fear,
Baby boy,
That I do not have the option of dying for you
If this world should ever take you from me.

Because I know,
Baby boy,
That the unknown,
That pain,
That danger,
And even death
Are inevitable.

I fear,
And I apologise,
For my human frailty that stops me from protecting you
As much as I dream that I can.
