Enchanting Creature
by Kimberly Carson

I still remember the hot summer night that these words came to my mind about the man who was soon to become my husband.  The road definitely had more turns than we ever expected, as future pieces may reveal. Romantic aspirations are hard acts for reality to follow.

Across the sea and from the plains
this enchanting creature whispers my name.
He seems not to know what in me he stirs,
but I know this voice of this I am sure.
In me has been sleeping what he has awoke,
the feelings are pure that he does evoke.
The questions are many, the hope ever strong,
could we have found what we both have longed?
Inside this woman lives the fairy tale dream
of a man who's a poet with the heart of a king,
who longs to adore one who gives herself whole
and she to love all of him right to his soul.
It's almost too good to be, as they say,
true, but I believe that it happens this way.
Just when you think there isn't much chance
for soulmates, oneness and true romance,
a partner to share all there is to behold
who knows all your secrets yet untold.
When you've just about settled for life as it is,
and have finally stopped asking, "Is there more than this?"
Along one day, a bold moment in time
life in its wonder brings a gift divine.
Then all of the searching up to this point
falls gently away as you see your heart joined,
with one who could know you as no one else does,
and the angels are cheering and let go the doves
of joy on these two who may search no more,
for each other, and now so much more to explore.
The quiet echoes of ghosts from their past
are silenced forever as love will outlast,
and conquer all fears that linger within,
and no more wondering of what may have been.
For now their way is guided by light
the love from their hearts is a beautiful sight.
Many more turns in this road they are on,
but together, not caring if the way may be long.
Now they know at the end of the road
they made their own story and watched it unfold.
