Friends Like These

a serial by Sally Gray

Oh the tangled webs we weave! Follow the affairs of 10 friends and family members as all kinds of secrets in their closets are revealed.

Typical British weather! - If you were in Britain and planned a barbecue, what else would you expect the weather to do but rain?

David's Secret Life - David had been widowed five years previously. His wife, Joe's mother had never really enjoyed good health and had faded away quite quickly after a particularly bad dose of bronchitis. David, always a strong man, had crumbled. His wife Hellen had done everything for him, and for the following few months he suffered terribly. They had shared a 'cozy' marriage, never really exciting but a good solid marriage nevertheless.

The Birthday Bash - They didn't really welcome their father's idea. Fred wanted to throw a party for his nineteen-year-old twins, Natalie and Steve. Their birthday was in a week's time, and although Fred wasn't your typical party animal, he loved his children with a vengeance and liked to show them off. In the end, Natalie, or Nat as she preferred, told her dad that they would go out with their friends on the Saturday, but they would celebrate with 'the barbecue group' the next day, Sunday.

Everybody Needs Good Neighbors - Becky Adams had taken down her net curtains to wash...it was a good way to keep an eye on her neighbor and sometime lover Joe.

Mixed Blessings - So Patsy began the long tale. She told her sister about the night at the opera...about the kiss. She said that they met each other twice a week...it wasn't just the sex. They were soul mates. What should she do?

Joy To...Amanda - Patsy and David were 'an item'. In the main, the group of friends had accepted their relationship. Fred had now settled in Spain and had struck up a friendship with a local lady. He still kept in contact with Patsy, and a balanced friendship had grown between them.

Life's Funny Like That - Fred had arrived back to the UK and had been put up by Amanda and Joe. The poor soul had looked dreadful with an unhealthy grey complexion...he'd also lost a lot of weight.
