Lesson Twenty.
Fare-well, hello again!
Your instructor is Professor Taltos.
As I sit at my keyboard, the last nineteen lessons we
have had together begin to run through my mind. It’s the kind of memories that
come in short flashes. (I’m sure you know what I mean) Some memories simply
stand out sharper than others. The same is true about some of the people I’ve
met while doing this. All of you have definitely left a life long impression in
my mind. Some of you have left deeper impressions than others. All of you have been such kind, caring, giving and extremely patient
teachers to me. My life is very much fuller and enriched for having done
‘Cyber-Sex’. It’s been a surprise adventure of a lifetime and I want to
thank you all for it.
It’s funny how things turn out sometimes. When I
began ‘Cyber-Sex’ I did so with a tongue in cheek kind of attitude. As I sit
here I realized just how much pleasure I have had doing ‘Cyber-Sex’. I have
laughed and cried with so very many of you. I have fallen deeply in love with
the world of ‘cyber-sex’ and all it’s mysterious places to visit. I will
forever remain a visitor to the doors of the chat rooms. I hope I will always be
welcome.
I’m sure if I wanted to I could have found something
to complain about in the chat rooms. But I’m one of those people that say,
“If you don’t like the movie plot. For crying out loud don’t by a ticket!
Or if you object to porn for crying out loud don’t get the playboy channel.”
It isn’t that I avoid things. My family wishes I would but I don’t. It’s
just that I pick and choose my battles carefully. Oddly not one person came
along and dragged me into the dark realms of some perverse act while I was in
the chat rooms. So I didn’t have a battle to worry about.
The chat rooms surprised me in many ways but I think
the biggest was how welcome and accepted I felt on my visits there. I was free
to choose what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be. That’s the beauty of
cyber-land you are completely free to make your own choices. Just remember to
practice some good old common sense when it comes to your safety. I believe this
can be said when it comes to relationships, friendships, peers and socializing.
Stay away from trouble and hopefully it will stay away from you.
If I was asked to review the chat rooms I have been to
I would give it three and a half gold stars. (Five being the highest) Yes, even
chat land isn’t perfect. As with
all things in life, we need rules to help us play safely. With any adult
entertainment you will find perversion, hate and evil of all kinds. If you’re
smart you’ll walk away from it. But if I was asked to rate cyber-land, I would
definitely say ‘cyber-land’ is a wonderful place to visit and the people you
meet there will blow your mind. A big three and a half gold stars!
I couldn’t begin to guess how much I have taxed my
family and friends while doing ‘Cyber-Sex.’. If I’m not asking questions,
I’m looking for opinions. I’m forever pestering people while I take my own
private polls. Yet through-out it all they have remained strong and encouraging.
I hope they all know how much they have helped me and how much I appreciate it.
Sometimes I don’t know why my life-mate puts up with me but he does and I know
with-out his encouragement I would never had had the courage to even try to
write. (Thanks Stewart! Wink, Wink!)
As for my chat friends I can’t begin to tell you how
happy I am to have met you. I feel very privileged to have been included in your
world. The magical wonderlands I have ventured through have given me more
insight to people than I thought was possible. As for my world it’s truly
bigger and brighter for having found this magical place.
Even the vaguely negative experiences I have had have
taught me a great deal. Especially about the safety issues in the chat rooms.
Many of these issues are ones I would never have thought about before this. I
hope by passing on what I have learnt I may help someone else along the way.
My hope
in doing ‘Cyber-Sex’ is to have opened a few eyes to a few things. Alot of
the relationships of tomorrow will be started today, on-line, in a chat room. My
niece is expecting her first child; the baby’s daddy is a nice man, she met
him on line. If you had asked me before doing ‘Cyber-Sex’, I would have said
this was a bad thing. But now I think it will be just fine.
I’m not by any means saying everyone should go
looking for a mate in the chat rooms. Most of the time your lucky to click with
someone and become good friends. All I can say is I’m grateful I’m not
playing the dating game. It’s a scary world out there! As long as you remember
you can’t believe every thing you hear, read or see today. Then you won’t
have a problem. Just please be careful!
I find I’m always looking forward to the visits I have in the chat rooms. I want
to take a moment of your time and say hello to some of my friends on-line! My favorite time is when I travel south to visit with ’Firstclass’.
He is my commander and I would gladly take orders from him any time. Then
there's ‘BloodRaven’ who has captured my attention and shown me the delights
of being a mistress. His castle has become one of my favorite haunts. Sometimes
I wander west and visit ‘Smiley’ my dear friend. She makes me laugh and I
feel we are very much kindred souls. Sisters at heart, I think. And the
inhabitants of Gor! What a wonderful place! They gave me free rein in their
unusual and mystical world. They have lent me their elders. The Elders are still
teaching me the rules, whenever I have time to go there. My time is so limited I
fear I don’t go there as often as I should. But I am never reprimanded for
this. These are just a few of my friends in the chat rooms. And I am grateful
I’ve had the chance to make their acquaintance. I thank you all for the fun
times.
Have I learnt anything worthwhile doing
‘Cyber-Sex”? You bet I did! Perhaps the most valuable of all is, ‘Don’t
give up, always keep the faith’! So many times I’ve found myself on the
verge of giving up on humanity. Probably because I spend so much time dealing
with the negative in people. There are times when I see some of the things we do
to each other and I swear it hurts my soul. My greatest concern of course is for
the children. They really are the windows to our future. But I have also
harbored a fair amount of concern when it comes to people, in general. I was
beginning to think our world had become a stiff, unemotional place.
The real world population seems to be so driven by
greed and the need to go as fast as we can into the future. In the same fashion
when a train runs headlong into something, the outcome can’t be good. I had
begun to fear we were forgetting to stop and realize what a gift life is.
Cyber-land has shown me we haven’t forgotten anything, we’re just getting
started on a new course.
My adventures in cyber-land have given me renewed hope
for things to come. I have found a place where the mind is allowed to go as far
as it wants. In this place you’re invited to see how far your imagination will
take you. You’re expected to ask questions. When you do ask you will find
people are anxious to share their world with you.
This cyber world has designed, be it by accident or
not, a society where all people reach out to one common place. Very much like a
bee’s hive. The hive honeycombs out to all the different needs of its people.
The individual chat rooms are like the honeycombs. This principal has worked
well for the bees for all this time and I think it will work well for all of us
too.
I can’t remember enjoying my work as much as I do
now. I find that when I sit down to work I feel comfortable with what I’m
doing. I still have my days when I stare blankly at my screen, cursing the
keyboard for being so idle. I still
have my days when I put my head down and literally cry for mankind. Now when
those days come I know they will pass, too. I believe there has to be hope for
us. If we’re still striving to create nicer places for ourselves to play in
that means we plan on being here for a long, long time.
If I can find a place that fits me as well as
cyber-land does then anyone can. I know I carry with me my little
eccentricities. (Yes I said little) I raise reptiles and amphibians. My mate
just bought one huge mother of a tank all complete for my newts, frogs and
lizards to live in. (I get a lot of understanding in my world) my house
resembles one of those scenes from ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ In my real world I
have to search for my comfort zone and I don’t always find it. In the
cyber-world I go in knowing full well I will find what I’m looking for.
Yes I think the human race will be just fine. If you
had asked me two years ago I would have told you the world was heading straight
for destruct mode. Then I began to write. As I started writing seriously I began
to realize I had opened a door for my mind and I have been going strong ever
since. Because of this I have spent a lot of my time interviewing people from
all walks of life. The more people I met the more convinced I was that we are
going in the right direction. We are continuing to grow and evolve along with
the plants and other life forms that make up this world. Some of us are still
dragging our feet when it comes to progress (Hi Harry) but generally we’re
going forward. This helps me sleep much better.
I see the way we will have to use our minds to achieve
what we want. And I know this, also, is a very good thing. This means we will
have to learn to stretch our minds to keep up with the rest of the world. With
mind stretching usually comes a good imagination. And with a good imagination
comes hopes and dreams. It’s my opinion that when it comes to these things we
will all benefit. Eventually we will see and understand the simple fact that we
are all in this together. It doesn’t matter who you are or what amount of
material things you have, we all wind up in the same place (so to speak)
regardless of all our gains. What sets you apart at the end of it all is weather
or not you’ve made any attempt to learn about your world. And
did you try to make a positive impact while you’re here?
It is with fond memories that I say good-bye
to,’Cyber-Sex 101’. I hope you found the lessons, if not helpful, at least
entertaining. I won’t say good-bye for as I have mentioned I will be running
an advice column ‘Ask Professor Taltos’ for the next few weeks. Please send
your e-mails to proftaos@yahoo.ca I’m really looking forward to hearing from you.
For now this is Professor Taltos saying good-bye, and
please take care!
