Sun Sign Keywords
by
Kimberly Carson

You are not who you think you are! Isn't that great news? You aren't your resume, you aren't your DNA, you aren't any of the titles (sister, brother, spouse, parent, etc.), and you certainly are not your sun sign. Surprised or relieved? Personally, I was glad to make this discovery because it enabled me to release my attachment to those things that I identified myself by and I felt more free. All of these factors influence us, though, don't they? It's up to us how we respond.

Astrology is a spiritual science whose contribution can best be made in the realm of health and healing and this column is going to provide you with enough useful and entertaining information to utilize those energy patterns that effect us all. It's a tool for understanding how to enhance your physical ease or facilitate the healing of your dis-ease. Please feel free to ask me questions about astrology: you can write me at: astrohealth@Storiesbyemail.com.

Each sign in the zodiac rules a particular region in the body and this will be an area that for sun signs, the vital energy will naturally be concentrated. Inside and out, from head to toe, astrology can help you, so here we go!

Aries, we're going to start with you first which should appeal to your basic ‘I AM' nature. The ram of the zodiac rules the head. Picture the majestic ram on a rocky mountainside, thrusting his head forward, eager to tackle any challenge that comes his way! Let your forcefulness be your passion, Aries and look for positive ways to channel those natural leadership instincts.

Next, we have Taurus, ruling the neck region with its typically slow, methodical style...until...pushed too far. Then, Toro! Everyone in the field with this bull is holding a red flag. ‘I HAVE' is your keyword and the material plane is a haven of soft, new grass to you. Remember to roll around in it once and a while, Taurus, especially your neck and shoulders. Keeping this area flexible and relaxed will help your pasture flourish beautifully.

On to Gemini, which prefers to be "on to" something most of the time. The tireless twin utilizes his keyword, "I THINK" every moment of every waking hour and I would wager even while he sleeps. Rest and relaxation is essential to this restless energy pattern which governs arms, shoulders and the lungs.

We meet the first of the three water signs, Cancer, the matriarch of the zodiac. This ultra sensitive energy and somewhat secretive crab rules the breasts and stomach and lives by the keyword, "I FEEL." Keep an eye on your excesses, moon child, you need your vital energy; avoid eating when distressed .

You've been waiting for me to get to you, haven't you, King of the zodiac?! Leos love center stage and their physical rulership is well placed in the heart. You have a big one, lion, take good care of it! "I WILL" is a very powerful statement. Our will determines our life.

Moving into Virgo, who rules the abdominal region and would do well to remember to keep this area moving smoothly with good daily portions of fruits and vegetables, we find the symbol of the virgin. I've known plenty who were less than virginal, but blush profusely at any attempts to engage them in a conversation in this area. These walking encyclopedias are well termed with the keyword: "I ANALYZE."

Balancing and harmonizing everything and everyone in their world, Libra's energy directs the functions of the kidney and the lumbar region. Many judges will be found with October birth dates but not because of their decision making abilities; it's the Libran's knack for seeing both sides that draws him to this profession. Yes, "I BALANCE" is important in the day to day details of this energy pattern. When things get out of control, those scales can tip in an alarmingly dramatic fashion.

Scorpio has been waiting patiently, in no hurry to hear what I might have to say, but secretly curious, nonetheless. It will surprise you the least to learn you govern the regenerative systems...yes, Scorpion, sex! "I CREATE," says this energy pattern who is the only sign symbolized by three creatures: the scorpion, representing the base animal nature who, rather than forego the pleasure of stinging, will sting himself to death; the eagle, symbol of the bird that can fly closer to the sun than any other; and the phoenix bird, resurrected from the ashes of the dead self. Use your creative power to serve, Scorpio; your healing powers are second to none.

In order to actually get a glimpse of the archer (whose really half horse and half man), you'll have to put on your running shoes and be ready with your bow poised and arrows ready to reach distant dreams. Ruling the hips (the physical ability to move forward), Sagittarius can spend a lot of time recovering from injuries or finding out from friends that one of his verbal arrows hits a sore spot. The Sag honestly means no harm when he tosses out one of his blunt remarks, so forgive him, repeatedly; his "I PERCEIVE" presence in your life will be worth it.

Capricorn takes us to our knees, as Saturn, its planetary ruler and the angel of discipline, accomplishes this through its innate wisdom of what we need and when we need it. "I USE," for this mountain goat takes on the highest or lowest meaning, depending on the will of the individual. Either way you go, Cappy, as time progresses your vital energy is enhanced and the term ‘old goat' for you is a compliment. Like wine, you improve with age. When your knees creak, lighten up, though, and bend a little.

We'll have to travel fifty years ahead in time in order to find the inventive Aquarian. Keep your ankles limber, water bearer, those journeys during time travel requires a lot of strength and support in this region. "I KNOW," you know, and your mental prowess excels in any time and space continuum.

The cycle is completed by Pisces, often called the dustpan of the zodiac and aptly so, as they'll whisk up any debris left behind through the antics of others and rarely complain. They don't mind being on their feet, this sign rules the feet, and would be amazed at how energized, vitalized and frankly, sensualized, they become through a foot massage or an evening soak in warm water. Put a fish in water any time and she is virtually healed.

Next time, we'll take a look at the polarities of astrology and how the qualities of our zodiacal opposite express through us. Remember: Your will determines your life.
