The energy dynamics available through the stars are healing tools in many areas of living and one of them that I probably utilize more than anything else at this point is what I refer to as: calling on the power. In the varying circumstances of life situations, certain energies operate more effectively, efficiently and smoothly than others and learning to channel this with conscious control isn't difficult and doesn't require a complete interpretation of one's natal chart. Recognizing and becoming aware of our internal speeds, flows, rhythms and capacities is as much a product of astrological insight as it is understanding our environment, upbringing, DNA and culture. Practicing conscious control and directing the energies as needed is our divine responsibility in order to heal ourselves and essentially the world. We have the most sophisticated mechanisms in the universe literally at hand and I'm referring to more features of beingness than just astrological energies, but since this is the theme of this article, I'll stick to that.
Sun sign knowledge in itself is useful in identifying certain behaviors, responses, tendencies and pre-dispositions we possess and directing or re-directing (as the case may demand) this energy alone can be helpful. The more knowledge we have of our astrological energy patterns the more system energy we can consciously control and use on behalf of our healing. Most local bookstores carry what's called an Ephemeris; basically, it's a chart of where the planets are in the zodiac on every given day for one century. Look up your birth date and note the positions of each of the planets; the closer ones are the primary influences: Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus, but noting all of them will provide you with a more complete profile. The difference between this method and having a natal chart calculated is roughly the difference between a sketch and a blueprint. A natal chart (the blueprint) is more detailed; the planetary positions (sketch) provides a basic understanding of the general influences and energy patterns. The other way to obtain this information is to write me at: astrohealth@storiesbyemail.com,
and I will email you the information from my ephemeris at no charge.
Here's what the information can do for you. I will use information from my own chart for the purpose of the examples. My Moon is in Leo and while this is undoubtedly the area of beingness that provides me with the most lessons it's also an energy I call on specifically depending on the situation. The moon is our emotional energy and Leo can be arrogant, prideful, righteous and demanding (not especially beneficial in the emotional realm). Yes, it can also be charming, playful, passionate and theatrical. Example: I was recently called for an interview with a large company and the interviewing process involved group interactions, role playing and presenting the most personality one could muster up in a fairly limited amount of time. My generally reserved basic nature was not all together thrilled about the prospect of such a high profile presentation, but I knew my Leo would shine once released. It did and I got the job based on one singular quality the company was looking for: shine. Example: my Sun is in Aquarius so whenever life presents me with an opportunity to let go of my attachment to the outcome of circumstances I call on Aquarius to field my responses. Example: I work in the financial industry and during those meetings with clients when I need to recommend products for investments, security, financial growth and the betterment of material living I call on the Capricorn energy I possess to structure the dialogue. Example: I'm a single, working mom with a four year old precocious daughter and during those parenting moments when I have the choice to use punitive techniques to teach the lesson or my compassionate Pisces to rule with my heart I'm grateful for the times I chose the latter and can access patience quickly. Example: I possess quite a bit of Piscean energy and while my Aquarius sun is not the most romantically or passionately inclined, Pisces is and so that is the energy I call on during "encounters" with my beloved.
Studying the energy patterns and/or meditating on them will elicit the same degree of understanding and in truth the meditation approach will be clearer. The energy is available to us in the same way fire was made available to us. It's an element of this existence that is natural, beneficial and inexhaustible. Remember, it's only the modern day astronomers who generally disassociate from astrologers; it wasn't always this way.
The next series will contain the power to call on for each of the signs. Write me with your astro info requests - I'll reply as quickly as possible. Remember, Your Will Is Your Life!
