At Home with the Signs
by
Kimberly Carson

We all tend to be a little bit different at home than in other areas of life; it's where we can put our feet up, let our hair down and be more fully ourselves. Our energy expresses itself more clearly when we are being our most authentic and home is where this is for most of us. Here's a peek at how the signs might express themselves when they are at their most relaxed:

Aries: The home ruled by this Mars influenced energy pattern is more casual, but not much less energetic than anywhere else you may find Aries. The creative impulses of this sign lead it to decorate for holidays, entertain occasionally and keep things running smoothly and moderately organized. The impetuousness of the sign may cause some financial juggling, but Aries leads with its head and is always at the ready with new brainstorms for handling any crisis.

Taurus: Picture a bull standing in the center of its pasture: this is Taurus at home. Confident, territorial, a presence to be contended with no matter where you are and idle until motivated to do otherwise. These Venus ruled signs generally keep lovely objects around them symbolizing the beauty of their true natures and Taurus' home is typically the same. Taureans are excellent cooks, love digging their hands into the earth gardening and are possessive about the things they own. Bulls love having people over to enjoy the earthy, soothing environment they live in and have exceptional taste in gift giving.

Gemini: Gemini likes color so you're not apt to find any muted tones splashed across the walls of this sign. Well, perhaps the walls, but not in the accents and decor. Gemini likes things orderly, but doesn't exactly have the most streamlined of systems for accomplishing this and the result is periods of orderliness followed by periods of moderate chaos. A Twins' home is friendly and designed with convenience in mind. This social creature likes having people over when home, but like its opposite, Sag, doesn't languor away the weekends there unless there's lots of folks around for distraction.

Cancer: Cancer rules the home and everything associated with home is loved by Cancer: family, traditional values, bar-b-ques, block parties, neighbors chatting over the fence and kids running around from house to house. This is Nirvana to the Moon Child and security. Threaten the security of this sign and you'll get one snappy crab. This energy pattern will nurture the life blood right out of family members and the living quarters if those impulses toward excess aren't kept in check. Cancer lives by the motto: you can never have too much of a good thing. Order is not at the core of this sign's priority list and will trade housework for playing with the children any time.

Leo: The king of the jungle is no less in his or her own domain. Leo loves holidays, family outings and projects around the house. Remember to appreciate the effects of these domestic efforts or you'll have to contend with roaring, pouting and sharp claws. Leos are the royal blood of the zodiac and expect to be treated as such. Certain tasks are beneath them and they'll let you know what they are, but won't look down on you for dealing with them yourself - so long as you clean up properly. Leos can be a might finicky.
Virgo: The homes of these analytical amazons are almost always in disarray; another of the many unexpected dichotomies. I've walked into the house of a Virgo friend and had to literally wade through a maze of clothes and books only to find my friend scrubbing the bathroom sink drain with a toothbrush. Virgo thrives on logic, but not necessarily on order. In the previous case, the logic is: I hate germs and keeping the bathroom sink scrubbed will take care of this; the clothes hanging over the furniture doesn't cause germs. The appetite of Virgo tends to be particular and cooking for Virgo will require posted rules. Never crude or unnecessarily noisy, Virgo believes themselves to be as inconspicuous as a dust mite, but remember the original Odd Couple? Felix Unger was undoubtedly a Virgo.

The next six will be discussed next week. As always, you can write to me with your astrology questions at: astrohealth@storiesbyemail.com. Your Will Is Your Life!
