Son of a Snake
The twin brothers did not come into the world easily. They gave their mother a tough time at the hospital labour room. For one week, Helen laboured at the hospital to deliver these twins. Scan pictures had shown that twins were being expected, but the pictures did not indicate to the medical doctors that Helen would be going through the labour room ordeal.
The nurses were dumbfounded as they struggled to deliver the woman. Unknown to everyone present at the labour room the twin brothers who were coming to the world for the first time were in a big fight. Both of them were really struggling and fighting each other inside Helen's womb. They fought to see who would win to come out first.
Alas, one of them succeeded in coming out first. He was named Taiwo, because he came out first. The one that came after him was called Kehinde because he was the last child to come out of their mother's womb into the word. There was great joy after Helen was delivered; she left for home a week afterwards.
The two boys began to grow. The parents soon discovered that they were very identical twins, and they ate so much food even after sucking their mother's breasts all day. However, there was one thing unusual about the babies. Their mother wondered why there were cries from these babies while sleeping alone on the bed.
"Why are these babies always crying?" she wondered silently. Helen searched her mind to figure out what could have been responsible, but there was no clue. So, she devoted more time to their feeding. But it was as if nothing was done: the more she cared, the more the cries increased.
Peter, her husband was not always at home, so he did not know what she was going through. He was a very busy man, and job entailed traveling. When she could no longer cope with the terrible noise coming from the little boys whenever they were alone, Helen decided to be very watchful. She had heard stories in the past that certain evil forces do torment babies. It is worse because babies cannot express their feelings or talk.
"What could be tormenting the kids?" she asked herself over and over again.
One day, she narrated the problem she had been facing to one of her friends who counseled her to devote more time to the children.
"But I have been doing that. What is my job if not to look after them and take care of them very well? I am a housewife," she replied her friend.
"Whatever you feel, I will still tell you to watch them closely and stay close to them," her friend insisted.
Two days later, there was a loud cry from one of the babies. Helen rushed inside from where she was washing dresses. Behold, the unfolding dream before her was incredible and stunning. One of the babies, Kehinde was seen transforming himself from a snake back into human form.
"What a bizarre thing? A child as a snake?" she asked herself, really smitten with fear.
This is not the kind of thing you tell people anyhow. She was really terrified. Her mind began to doubt the sight she beheld few minutes earlier.
"Can it be true?"
"I saw it. I saw the snake.... the transformation," she answered in her mind to convince herself that she was not dreaming.
Helen observed the babies again. Both of them looked innocently as if nothing had happened. Helen then realized it was Kehinde, the second twin brother who had been terrorizing his other brother,
Taiwo.
The Day of Fear
"What should I do now?" she asked herself. The thought of taking them to the church for assistance ran through her spine. She knew that would be the best thing to do. She attended church occasionally. But Toriola, her husband never hid his disdain for churches. To him, many Churches were out to deceive the public.
Realizing, Toriola should not hear about her romance with any church, Helen took the children and sneaked out to a nearby church in the neighbourhood. There, she met the Pastor and narrated her ordeal and what she had seen that day. The Pastor herself had not seen or heard this kind of thing before. He too was shocked beyond words. So, he counseled that his boss in the Lords vineyard would be visiting, and he would be able to deal with this kind of strange and bizarre development.
"Pastor, this is the particular one that transformed himself," Helen still volunteered hoping something could be done.
"Pastor, please place your hand on the child and pray for him."
"The best thing is to bring them for deliverance," counseled the Pastor.
He said further, "Bring their father along."
"Ha! He must not know. He is a very stubborn man. He can be very violent. He will kill me if he knows," she pleaded.
"So what do we do?" asked the Pastor.
After awhile, the Pastor counseled that Helen should simply tell her husband that he was wanted in the church, without divulging the secret. The Pastor and other ministers would now inform her husband. The following day, he showed up at the church to see the Pastor and other ministers. The Pastor then disclosed the problem of the snake child. Toriola was amazed. But he took the story with a pinch of salt. The Pastor however saw in his eyes some strange signals.
"Do not touch the child. All that he needs with his twin brother is prayer. So, do not touch him," the Pastor added.
The Unexpected Climax
The couple later left for home with the children.
At home that day, the tormented twin brother also began to cry. He cried so much
that afternoon. Toriola then tiptoed near the door. He peeped through the keyhole.
He was bewildered. Toriola saw a small snake. The baby had again transformed into a serpent.
"Hm. So, it is true? So, those pastors were not lying after all?" he asked silently.
He was really terrified. Almost immediately, he thought of what to do next.
That night, while everyone including Helen had slept, he took the baby and silently walked out of the room. He strolled through the cover of darkness and suffocated the baby. He then returned home and placed the child on the bed and he went back to bed. The following morning, everyone in the house woke up except the suffocated child. When Helen called her husband's attention to the situation, Toriola expressed shock. He cried. In the end, he quickly took the child among for interment.
On the expected day of deliverance, Toriola, Helen and the babies were not seen in church. The worried ministers later sent for them to make inquiries.
"Oh, we are sorry to inform you that the poor baby was sick, and he just died.
It is a very pathetic and unpleasant experience," Toriola said to the church's emissary. The emissary went back and told the ministers what happened.
Immediately, the ministers knew that something had happened. Toriola felt contented that he had done away with the baby.
"What better thing could these Pastors have done?" he asked himself.
By now, his mind has now been overshadowed by evil. That night he slept and dreamt.
He saw a monster. The monster pointed to him and began to command a bulldozer that was driven by a weird looking man. The bulldozer began to roll towards Tolani. Suddenly, he screamed aloud from his sleep. Almost immediately the house in which they were living collapsed.
Everyone in the house died. It became headline news and structural engineers came to the collapsed house. They carried out engineering analysis and concluded that the house collapsed because of structural defects.
